Spring Running

The weather has not been sweltering yet, which is enjoyable for running. However, it is raining here a lot, so morning runs have been very beneficial.

This past weekend, we traveled to Kentucky for a wedding. It is our hope to run a race in every state, so we signed up for the Woodford Wag, a Cross Country 5k in Versailles (pronounced Ver-sails, not Ver-sigh, like the beautiful palace in France). It was super tough. It might have been the beer I tried at West 6th Brewing Company the night before, it might have been the grass, it might have been the hills, it might have been the rocks….However, Sean placed 2nd in his age group and 8th overall and I placed 1st in my age group and was the 9th female to finish. My mile splits were not even, the first mile I clocked in at 7:40 and that I could have been happy with for the rest of the race.

The wedding was at the Bell House, and was beautiful. It’s hard to believe that Sean and I are under two months to go for ours this July!

After every other run, I’ve been trying to incorporate squats and lunges or pushups and core. I haven’t been lifting and this has been a nice addition. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to add onto my lifting, especially as the school year comes to a close.
And Jackpot over back home is living the dream!

Running For...

Lenape Challenge Tribe Team! Only one team did not tip the canoe! Here we ran 4 miles and then canoed 2 miles.
Broad Street Runners!

After spending a great spring of running, it’s difficult to stay motivated. My next longer run is scheduled for September. The summer is filled with weddings, including my own. But I am going to need a base if I want to PR November 1st in the marathon. My last few marathons have been pretty consistent and it’s time to get to the next level.
Conshohocken Nights- Got to run in the morning, still!

How to keep running on a steady schedule? I’ve done minimal since Broad Street, mostly because I am not sure what to do. A few miles here and then and some 400 repeats. It’s time to build speed, add more mileage, and have fun! I like plans and goals to check off.
And eating/preparing Mother's Day brunch?! Delicious, but not running friendly foods :-)

Mantra: Have fun running, stick to the plan, get some lifting/core/yoga in, and enjoy wedding planning!
